What It Is
Eurogentec’s RNAi Oligonucleotides line covers three ready-to-order families: custom siRNA duplexes synthesised to your sequence, a catalogue of ready-to-use positive and negative siRNA controls, and custom miRNA mimics and inhibitors.
All are chemically synthesised RNA oligonucleotides made in-house by Kaneka Eurogentec in Seraing, Belgium, using phosphoramidite solid-phase synthesis, with free sequence design available from Eurogentec’s oligonucleotide design team. Products are supplied dried or lyophilised for research use, from a few nanomoles up to large custom quantities.
How It Works
A synthetic siRNA duplex is introduced into the cell, where the double-stranded RNA is recognised by the RISC complex. The sense strand is displaced, the target mRNA anneals to the antisense strand held by RISC, the mRNA is digested, and RISC is recycled for further rounds of silencing. Because the effect is sequence-specific, expression of one chosen gene is knocked down without a genomic edit.
miRNA mimics are double-stranded synthetic microRNAs that reproduce the action of endogenous miRNAs, while miRNA inhibitors are chemically modified antisense oligos that bind and neutralise a specific miRNA — giving gain- and loss-of-function control over the same regulatory pathway.

siRNA Controls
Ready-to-use positive controls against LaminB1, Vimentin, NuMA, β-actin, Eg-5 and Cdk-1 (human), pGL2 and pGL3 luciferase (firefly) and GFP (jellyfish), plus a negative control with no homology to any known eukaryotic gene.
Supplied as 1 duplex at 5 nmol, IEX-HPLC purified, 100 % MALDI-TOF controlled, already annealed and shipped dried. Eurogentec states a delivery time of 5 working days for these catalogue items.
Why It Matters
The free design service carries a stated silencing guarantee: order all three designed duplexes for a target and at least one is guaranteed to reach a minimum of 80 % knockdown. That removes much of the trial-and-error cost of validating a new target.
The same synthesis platform then scales from a 3 nmol pilot duplex through to sterile-filtered, endotoxin-tested material, with stabilising chemistries such as LNA®, 2′O-Me, 2′O-MOE, phosphorothioate and cholesterol conjugation — so a laboratory does not need to change supplier as a project moves from cell culture towards in vivo work.
